Terms of Use

1. The service

Valo Sign is a browser-based tool for filling and visually signing PDF files. The V1 service processes document content on your device and does not provide identity verification, a qualified electronic signature, legal advice, document custody, or an audit certificate.

You may use the service from any country where doing so is lawful. These terms are governed by South African law, but they do not take away consumer or privacy rights that cannot legally be excluded in your country.

2. Who may use it

You must have legal capacity to accept these terms. If you use Valo Sign for an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it.

3. Your documents and signatures

• You keep ownership of your documents and anything you add to them.
• You must have permission to open, edit, sign, and download each document.
• You are responsible for checking the completed PDF and deciding whether a visual signature is legally suitable for your purpose.
• Exporting a PDF may invalidate an existing cryptographic signature. Valo Sign warns you when it can detect one, but detection may not be complete.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use Valo Sign to break the law, impersonate another person, forge authority, interfere with the service, distribute malware, bypass security controls, or violate another person’s rights.

5. Free service and future monetisation

Valo Sign is currently free to use. There is no subscription and no payment is required for the V1 features.

If we later introduce advertising, sponsorships, paid plans, or usage limits, we will explain the change before it applies. We will not charge you retroactively. Advertising technology will not be permitted to read or receive the content of PDFs you process in Valo Sign.

6. Availability and changes

We may improve, limit, suspend, or discontinue the free service. The service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis without a contractual uptime guarantee. See the Service Levels page for more detail.

7. Warranties and liability

Valo Sign is provided as available. You should keep your original document and verify every exported PDF before relying on it.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profits, or a decision by another person or system not to accept a document. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under the South African Consumer Protection Act.

8. South African law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. South African courts have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right you have to bring a claim elsewhere.
